Both (!) are very good, but the Windows algorithm is different at different screen resolutions, the Mac is not. It boils down to the difference in the algorithms of Windows and Mac. Unfortunately I can‘t find the video anymore. I was baffled by the thought that went into this (nowadays) mundane device at that time. There was an interview with one of the Xerox people who explained what they have done (when inventing the mouse as device) and what Apple has changed when they claimed to have invented the mouse.

And vice versa, if you come from Windows and think you are spot on, you‘ll have to mouse around some more on the mac to get where you thought you already were. If you are on target on the Mac, you usually overshoot on Windows. On the Mac, the acceleration is slower, ramps up if you speed up and slows down drastically as soon as you decelerate your hand. Windows has an entirely different way to accelerate the mouse pointer and it can be customized in oh so many ways. This does make for some unhappy users who work with both platforms. Those are 35+ years old algorithms (if you really want to call them that) and they work just perfectly.

The same routines were ported to NeXT, from which Mac OS X was derived. The acceleration tables for the (original System 6) mouse pointer are wickedly complex and have never changed. 👆this! (Although it is not just acceleration) If anyone has any insight please let me know, its such a pleasure using Mac OS and clicking around, it feels very noticeable. What am I comparing to? My 2019 Dell XPS with a dedicated rtx graphics card. So obviously Apple did something right behind the scenes? The entire way of navigation throughout computers has been through the mouse, obviously depending on the use case. The cursor movement is undoubtedly better than windows.
